HubSpot And LinkedIn Follow Startup Founders As They Scale In New Documentary Series

Published on November 15, 2022

HubSpot, the customer relationship management (CRM) platform for scaling companies, today announced that HubSpot for Startups is collaborating with LinkedIn to co-produce a new documentary series, Spiraling Up: The Journey to Become a Unicorn. Over three seasons, this series will chronicle the journeys of startup founders at every stage of funding – from seed rounds to unicorn status. Each episode will feature a behind-the-scenes view of the challenges, successes, and resiliency of leading a startup.

“The most successful leaders need grit and resilience to weather the storm, and it’s inspiring to see these qualities in action through our docuseries with HubSpot,” said Jim Habig, LinkedIn’s VP of Marketing. “Our hope is that the world’s next generation of entrepreneurs are just as inspired to fuel tomorrow’s unicorns and change the way we do business.”

HubSpot’s own growth journey inspired the company to create its HubSpot for Startups (HSFS) program in 2016, which helps startups expand their businesses with a simple, user-friendly, and cost-effective suite of tools. HSFS’s collaboration with LinkedIn demonstrates a shared commitment to business growth, and this new documentary series emphasizes the importance of centering diversity, inclusion, and belonging as organizations build and scale.

“HubSpot and LinkedIn produced this docuseries as a means of showcasing all that goes into the journey of growing and scaling a business,” said Kipp Bodnar, HubSpot’s CMO. “HubSpot was once a startup too, and our mission as a company is to help millions of businesses grow better. Through this project, we hope to inspire, encourage, and share the stories of other founders going through the unique journey of Spiraling Up in hopes of becoming the next unicorn.”

Season one of Spiraling Up: The Journey to Become a Unicorn includes the following startup leaders:

  • Suneera Madhani, CEO and Co-Founder of Stax
  • Stephen Cluskey, CEO and Founder of Mobility Mojo
  • Mandy Price, CEO and Co-Founder of Kanarys
  • Dileep Thazhmon, CEO and Co-Founder of Jeeves

"Being a founder is a hard, lonely, yet extremely satisfying path. It's never as good as it looks on the outside and never as bad as you think it is on the inside – the truth is somewhere in between,” said Dileep Thazhmon, co-founder and CEO of Jeeves. “I'm very excited that Spiraling Up will showcase these ups and downs of the founder journey and share the story behind why I do what I do and why I’ve built a team to grow Jeeves alongside me.”

Episode one will be available to stream on November 16 through HubSpot for Startups’ site, and new episodes will be released on Tuesdays.

“Starting out in my career, I never imagined I would be an entrepreneur, but I’m extremely thankful that I made that leap to co-found my company, Kanarys,” said Mandy Price, co-founder and CEO of Kanarys (HubSpot Ventures has previously invested in Kanarys). “Like many founders, I’ve gone through many ups and downs building my business, but I always remember our vision – to create workplaces where everyone belongs. I’m grateful to HubSpot for Startups and LinkedIn for giving me the opportunity to share my story, and I hope that it’ll inspire other entrepreneurs to not lose sight of their mission when things get tough. Eventually, you’ll reach a turning point and see your impact become a reality.”
